Phil Currie

Club Owner/Lead Instructor

My name's Phil, and I'm the Lead Instructor for Verve Taekwondo Wolverhampton, Sandwell & Martley (WSM), and owner of Dragon Taekwondo Ltd.

I'm a 3rd-degree Black Belt in I.T.F. Taekwondo and started training in Taekwondo in 1999.

I have trained in martial arts since the age of 6, including Judo, Kickboxing, Jiujitsu, and Karate, in which I also hold a 2nd-dan Black Belt.

I have competed at various levels, including representing the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Martial Arts Association for 3 years.

I now teach while also maintaining my own training, and I act as a referee, including for international competitions, and I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead for our clubs.

I was inducted into the UK Martial Arts Show Hall of Fame in 2025 with a Top Instructor Award

I'm Ray and I'm an Instructor with Verve/Dragon Taekwondo, and I'm a 2nd degree black belt.

I've been training with Verve since 2012, and I assist with training on a Wednesday night in Martley.
